Step into a key role supporting sophisticated, trial-driven medical malpractice matters at a respected California litigation firm where your expertise truly matters.
An established, statewide medical malpractice and civil litigation firm with decades of experience handling complex matters throughout California is seeking an experienced California Medical Malpractice Litigation Secretary to support one to three attorneys while managing a high-volume medical malpractice litigation desk. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for a highly organized, detail-driven professional with strong California litigation experience.

  • Southern California: Candidates may be based in any office location, including Glendale, Riverside, or San Diego.
  • California civil litigation experience is required.
  • Medical malpractice litigation experience is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Support California medical malpractice defense matters from case inception through trial, including complex, expert-heavy litigation
  • Independently calculate, calendar, and track California litigation deadlines, including discovery cutoffs, expert designations, motions, and trial dates
  • Draft, format, file, and serve pleadings; draft and serve discovery in compliance with California rules and procedures
  • Assist with trial preparation, including managing pre-trial deadlines, organizing exhibits, and preparing witness and exhibit lists
  • Coordinate e-filing and service in California courts while researching and applying local court rules
  • Manage multiple attorney calendars, high email volume, billing/time entries, expense reports, and impeccably organized electronic case files

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of litigation legal secretarial experience (required)
  • California civil litigation experience (required)
  • Medical malpractice litigation experience (strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to support one to three attorneys and manage a heavy litigation desk
  • Advanced knowledge of California calendaring rules and court procedures
  • Experience with pleadings, discovery, and trial/pre-trial preparation
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ProLaw experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fully remote environment

Compensation & Work Arrangement

  • Salary: $70,000-$80,000 annually
